A lot of customers have printed canvases with us but always wondered what does canvas wrapping mean.
What is canvas wrap?
Canvas wrap is the area that the canvas goes over and around the wooden bar. Typically our wooden canvas bar thickness is 3.5cm. So the wrap that goes around is 3.5cm on all sides. That also means the picture if it is being wrapped will be 7cm shorter.
Should the picture go over the wrap?
It depends on you. Some customers prefer the picture to go over the wrap to make it have a continuous look. For example customers who are viewing the canvas from the sides can see the picture “flowing” to the sides.
Can we opt for colours?
Yes the other way to wrap the canvas is called colour wrap. Ie you choose the colour of the border wrap instead of using your picture. Colour wrap is a popular option if your picture does not allow for any cropping because there is important content all around the picture.
Can we wrap two sides with colours and the other two sides with the picture
Yes we can. You need to write in to us at [email protected] and let us know.
How do you do canvas wrap if I want to do multi panel canvas?
This is the third option for wraps, which is using mirror wrap. That means the portion that goes around the wooden canvas bar is a mirror image of the canvas sides. This ensures that there is no cropping needed for your picture and still ensures continuity.
