We all know and love Photoshop for its great editing tools and the fun, cool effects that we can do on it. However, not everyone can afford Photoshop, especially if you are a student. In today’s blog, I’m going to tell you the alternatives to Photoshop that you can use on the computer (and they are Free!).
Here we go!
1.GIMP
GIMP is a free alternative to Photoshop. It offers a toolset that is similar to Photoshop. From clone stamp to colour correction, they have similar tools that we usually see in Photoshop. With all the available tools in GIMP, users can do photo editing and cool effects such as the glitch text effect, etc.
The interface of GIMP feels similar to Photoshop. However, keep in mind that it is not completely the same to Photoshop. It has its own quirk and its own command keys that differ from Photoshop. Other than the difference, I would say this is a pretty nifty alternative to Photoshop for those on a limited budget.
It is available on Mac, Windows, Linux.

2. Photo Pos Pro
One thing that caught my eye with this application was that it has two modes when you first open it: one for beginners and another one for intermediate and advanced users. The beginner mode reminds me of the photo editing apps we see on our mobile phones. It has the basic editing tools that we usually see on our mobile phone apps. It offers easy to add filters and adjustments.
On the other hand for the experienced users, it has more tools available that are similar to Photoshop. You will see the layers, filters, image and adjustment tabs when you open it. In my personal opinion, it is not a bad to use considering that it is free.
This application is only available for Windows at the moment (Sorry Mac users!). You can check it out here.
3. Pixlr
This a free web-based image editing tool. When it opens the interface looks similar to Photoshop. Not only that, it has similar features and keyboard shortcuts of that to Photoshop. And like any other photo editor, it allows you to do the basic photo editing, from cropping to removing red-eye. So if you are looking for an image editor that does not need any download of the application and without leaving your browser, this online photo editor is just for you.
