Hello everybody! Welcome back to the PFF blogpost. On today’s episode, we will be elaborating more about editing your photos via Canva. Many of us have photos we would love to edit but are unsure of what applications we can use. Fret not, you can use Canva to edit your photos. Team PFF will run through with you on how to edit your photos using Canva.

Adjust function

The adjust function has 4 main components.

1. Brightness
2. Contrast
3. Saturation
4. Filter

Brightness

For the brightness tool, you can use it to make the overall image lighter or darker. Do note that this tool is not used to brighten or darken selective areas. You should use this tool if you want to make the overall image lighter or darker.

Contrast

The contrast tool is used to adjust the amount of contrast in the photo. I.e. The difference between the lightest and darkest areas in the photo. Increasing the contrast will make the light areas lighter and the dark areas darker. This can help to make the details clearer and the image is brought to life. While there are numerous benefits to increasing contrast, we should not neglect reducing contrast. Reducing contrast can help to bring about a dreamy or vintage look in an image.

How you should decide depends on what type of look you are going for. If you are aspiring for a dreamy or vintage look, you should choose to reduce contrast. If your goal is for the image details to be clear and the image to portray an energetic vibe, you should increase contrast

Saturation

The saturation tool changes the intensity of all the colours equally. This is extremely beneficial on old photos that lack the colour intensity. Do note that the saturation tool should not be overused. If overused, this could cause photos to look garish.

Filters

Different filters have a different effect on how the image will turn out. Do select the correct filter for your photo to turn out the way you desire it to.

Do note that the goal of photo editing is to make the images look as natural as possible. Hence, we should not overuse brightness, contrast and saturation.

Crop function

The crop function is extremely beneficial as it allows us to resize, rotate and even flip the image. The most effective tool here will be the resizing tool. It is extremely beneficial as we can use this tool to resize our images into what we want. For example, if we want to print a 4R image but the image size we have is not proportional to size. We can use Canva photo editor to resize the image and print a 4R image. Once edited you can submit your edited photo for printing.

Add text function

The add text function can be very useful especially if we want to add a special note into an image. For example, your anniversary is coming up and you would like to add in a special note for your loved one in the image. You can use the add text function in Canva photo editor. Once added, you can submit your edited photo for printing.

Creating a collage

The collage function will enable you to customize your collage. There are various layouts for you to choose from. Do select the right collage for your images. If your images do not fit into the collage because of the image size, you can crop the image so that it will fit into the collage. Once done you can upload your edited photo for printing. Adding Shapes

The addition of shapes function can help to bring some fun into the picture. If your goal is to add in images to bring fun in, then you should consider adding in shapes.
