Growing tired of seeing the same design of the Rubik’s Cube? Well, this DIY will help you spice up the fun and you get to create your very own Rubik’s Photo Cube.
Materials needed:
- 1 Rubik’s Cube (standard one)
- 6 Photos (I’ll be using 6 Smallies)
- Scissors
- Glue/tape
- Ruler
- Pencil
- A paper (I’m using an unused photo instead)
Let’s get started!
Measure one face of the Rubik’s cube. Once measured, draw out a square on the blank paper using the measurements. Cut along the lines.
Use this blank cut-out as a guide when cutting the photos.
I used it as a guide to roughly know where to cut out for the main subject of the photos. Below I use the cut-out guide to mark the place I want to cut. I used a marker to make it more noticeable.
Once you cut out the main subject of each photos. Measure the small squares of the cube.
Then draw lines on the cut out photo based on the measurement. Label each box to ensure that the order would not be mix up.
Once done, cut along the lines. Then, paste it on one side of the cube using either glue or tape. Cut any excess if it protrude out of the small squares. It should look like this once pasted. (A/N: I cut the edges to be more rounded so that the edges will not be sharp.)
Repeat again until you have covered all sides of the cube. There are 9 small squares on each face of the Rubik’s photo cube, with 6 faces it’s a total of 54 small squares! Take your time 🙂 … And there you have it! Your very own Rubik’s photo cube. Great for gifts or decoration. For the time-pressed ones, we do have our own Photo Cube where we do the heavy lifting for you, simply send us the photos and we will take care of the rest.
You can purchase the Smallies here. Have fun doing this DIY! ‘Till next time!
